Federal Minister Khalid Hussain Magsi Inaugurates Digital Initiatives Under Smart PEC Drive
In a significant move towards digital transformation in Pakistan’s engineering sector, the Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Mr. Khalid Hussain Magsi, soft-launched several forward-looking initiatives under the “Digital Drive Towards Smart PEC” during the 51st Governing Body meeting of the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) held at PC Bhurban. The initiatives include Pakistan’s first Digital Map, PEC Live Mobile App for engineers, Brain Gain Portal, PEC Data Strategy, plans for revamping the PEC website, and the introduction of the PEC E-Card.Speaking at the launch, Federal Minister Khalid Hussain Magsi stated, “These initiatives reflect our commitment to integrating technology for the growth of Pakistan’s engineering sector. By going digital, we are empowering our engineers, improving governance, and creating a smarter regulatory framework.” He especially lauded the Brain Gain Portal, calling it a visionary move to reconnect overseas Pakistani engineers with national development. The minister emphasized the government’s resolve to support innovation, transparency, and efficiency in professional institutions, and assured full support to PEC not only in its digital transformation goals but also in its broader developmental objectives.While addressing the event, Chairman PEC Engr. Waseem Nazir said, “Our aim is to build a smarter, more responsive PEC that actively engages with engineers and stakeholders across all platforms.” He explained that the *Digital Map* will serve as a powerful geospatial planning tool for national infrastructure development. The *PEC Live Mobile App* will enable real-time access to important updates and services for engineers nationwide. The *Brain Gain Portal* is designed to connect overseas Pakistani engineers with local projects, enabling knowledge transfer and mentorship. The *PEC Data Strategy* will help foster a data-informed culture for better decision-making. He added that the *PEC Website* is planned to be revamped to enhance user engagement and functionality, while the *PEC E-Card* will act as a secure, digital identity for engineers to streamline access to PEC services.The meeting brought together senior PEC leadership, including Senior Vice Chairman Engr. Dr. Serosh Hashmat Lodhi, Vice Chairman Punjab Engr. Dr. Shuail Aftab Qureshi, Vice Chairman Sindh Engr. Mukhtar Sheikh, Vice Chairman Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Engr. Dr. Qaiser Ali, Vice Chairman Balochistan Engr. Mujeeb Ur Rehman Marri, and members of the Governing Body. Key stakeholders from academia, industry, and government institutions were also in attendance.
