Islamabad (hubdar news ): Mian Akram Farid, Central Chairman of the Employers’ Federation of Pakistan (EFP), said that the Government of Pakistan, particularly the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development under the leadership of Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain, is taking praiseworthy steps, in light of international laws, to address the challenges faced by laborers and protect their rights. He made these remarks on the occasion of the first tripartite labor conference held on Labour Day. On this occasion, he extended special congratulations to Justice (Retd.) Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui, Chairman of the National Industrial Relations Commission (NIRC), Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain, and Director of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Geir Thomas Tonstol, saying that the tripartite conference would prove to be an important forum between the country’s judiciary, government, media, and labor leadership.
Furthermore, he lauded the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) for conducting high-demand skill training courses, especially for working women, to enhance their financial empowerment and ensure access to international-level high-tech education and employment.He also mentioned the recent meeting between an EFP team, led by President Tahir Javed, and representatives from the International Labour Organization, including Luc Triangle, Secretary-General of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), and Mr. Shoya Yoshida, Regional Secretary-General of ITUC, who visited Pakistan to strengthen relations between ITUC and Pakistan. These meetings underscore the government’s commitment to providing a safe and productive workplace and reaffirm its dedication to labor rights.
He also appreciated the ILO’s continued support in ensuring the protection and opportunities for labor workers.
