Ambassador Republic of Türkiye to Pakistan His Excellency İrfan Neziroğlu, along with Managing Director Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) Sen. Capt. Shaheen Khalid Butt distributed “Ramadan Food Assistance Package” among the needy families, in a ceremony held here in Islamabad, sponsored by Turkish state-run aid agency. Country head of Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TiKA), Islamabad, Ms. Saliha Tuna was also present on the occasion. In the ceremony, jointly executed by PBM and TiKA, 1500 deserving families were offered Food Assistance Package containing dry food items for whole month of Ramadan containing rice, wheat flour, lentil, chickpea, cooking oil, chickpea flour, sugar, juice drink, red pepper, tea and dates.
While expressing the pleasure to support the needy people during holy month of Ramadan with the help of PBM, Turkish Envoy to Pakistan highlighted the brotherly relations between the two countries. He also described TiKA’s various social welfare services in Pakistan for the last 15 years executing above 700 welfare projects. “Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif was the first prime minister who visited Turkiye after the disastrous earthquake to express the solidarity with the people of Turkiye”, he said while communicating the shared pains during the difficult times. Ambassador of Turkiye to Pakistan His Excellency İrfan Neziroğlu also appreciated the pro-poor services of PBM and emphasized to strengthen the partnerships between TiKA and PBM, especially for Empowerment of the Women imparting them vocational skills including beautician and cooking.
In his remarks, Managing Director PBM Sen. Capt. Shaheen Khalid Butt expressed his gratitude to Turkish Envoy for becoming part of PBM’s historic Ramadan Drive for accommodating poor persons across the country. Highlighting the collaborative efforts with PBM, the Managing Director applauded the TiKA’s landmark achievements in social protection field. Capt. Shaheen, while referring to the fraternal Pakistan Turkiye relationship, stated that both the countries have supported each other in good and difficult times and this friendship will grow stronger in future based on our shared values and care for each other. On the occasion Managing Director PBM also thanked TiKA’s Country Head, Ms. Saliha Tuna for extending support to the marginalized segments of the country.
Earlier, Turkish Envoy, along with Managing Director PBM, also visited the display centre of PBM’s Women Empowerment Centres (WECs). Applauding the embroidery products there, the Ambassador vowed to promote the finished products of WECs among the Turkish Community.
